The Little Mermaid

Act 1

Deep in the ocean near Denmark, lies the magical Kingdom of Atlantica. King Triton, the mighty ruler of the sea, lives here with his twelve beautiful mermaid daughters. Each princess has a special talent and bright personality. To celebrate the joy of the ocean, Sebastian, the royal conductor, gathers sea creatures for a grand performance.

Everybody, let’s play the song “Under the Sea” for our great King Triton!

Next, let’s welcome the cutest little sea horses to perform a dance for us!

My dear sea creatures, thank you for the lovely music and dance. Now, it’s time to welcome my talented daughters. I will call each of them, one by one.

Hello! I’m Andrina. My favourite colour is purple!

Hello! I’m Attina. I love to read books!

Hello! I’m Adella. I love to cook yummy food!

Hello! I’m Alana. I love fashion and beauty!

Where is Princess Ariel? Everyone looks around, but she’s nowhere to be found!

Sebastian! What are you doing? Didn’t I ask you to bring all the princesses here?

My dear king! I informed them all! The little princess said she would arrive shortly.

Ariel is the youngest and most beloved daughter of King Triton. Everyone fears the King might get angry… but then—Ariel rushes in!

Hello! I’m Ariel. Nice to meet you! My dear father, please forgive me for being late.

Ah, there you are! Dance with me first. Then I will hear your “good” reason for being late.

Act 2

Princess Ariel is full of curiosity about the human world. Every day, while her father takes a nap, she sneaks away with her best friend Flounder to visit a sunken ship. She calls it her “secret place.”

Ariel, my little princess! I’m going to take a nap now. Don’t sneak out again, okay?

I know, Father. I’ll stay in the palace. Don’t worry about me.

But Ariel is thinking… I don’t understand why Daddy won’t let me go out. That sunken ship is my special place… it’s where I can talk to Prince Eric.

Oh! I haven’t talked to Prince Eric in days. Let’s go, Flounder!

Ariel and Flounder swim to the sunken ship… but they don’t notice that Sebastian is secretly following them. A group of clownfish is also swimming behind them happily.

Nice to see you, Ariel! How are you these days?

My dear Princess Ariel! How could you come to the sunken ship again? Your father told me to keep an eye on you!

Okay, okay. I promise. I’ll keep your secret. But let’s go back now.

Can you wait a second? I haven’t been here for so long.

Oh no! If King Triton finds out, he’ll boil me into soup!

Don’t worry, Sebastian! No one will find out. We come here all the time.

Ha ha ha! Sebastian, you’re too nervous. Take it easy! Look at Prince Eric—he’s so handsome, don’t you think?

My dear princess, please stay awake! That’s just a statue! You look so silly! Ha ha ha!

Oh no… but I love Prince Eric. I wish I could live with him on land!

What are you saying?! Ariel, are you crazy? King Triton will never allow that!

Calm down, Sebastian. Ariel is just dreaming again. She was only talking to the statue for fun.

Act 3

Boom! Boom! Boom! Suddenly, a great white shark crashes into the sunken ship!

Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian try to fight back, but there are too many sharks! Ariel is chased into a deep, dark hole in the sea. Flounder and Sebastian quickly swim away to find help. Ariel hides, too scared to come out.

Ariel, Ariel! Where are you? We are here to help you!

Dear Princess Ariel, don’t worry about the shark. It’s gone now.

Thank you so much! Let’s leave this place quickly!

Take it easy. Anglerfish, please use your light to guide the princess.

Alright… my lovely Prince Eric, I’ll come visit you another day.

Oh my goodness! Is this girl crazy?! Good God, someone save her!

Act 4

King Triton hears that Princess Ariel has returned after a big adventure. But she still refuses to stay in the palace. The king is very worried.

No! Never! We must choose a group of powerful guards to protect Ariel at all times. She’s too innocent to know how dangerous the sea really is.

Sebastian, post a notice. We will hold a tryout to select her personal guards!

After much preparation, the big day arrives — the royal guard auditions begin!

We are strong like Beckham! Bad guys! Watch out! Here come our powerful soccer kicks!

Wow! You’re amazing! You should be the guard team!

Dear King Triton, we’re always guarding you. We’re too busy to protect the princess, too. Please choose someone else!

We are cute and helpful shrimps! If you have a problem, just ask.

No, no. You’re too friendly. I need fierce guards, not negotiators.

Under the sea, under the sea! Here the fish are happy and free! No troubles, just bubbles! Life is sweet under the sea!

Oh no! The dolphins are too playful! They can’t protect Ariel!

My king, we are perfect! We can squirt ink to confuse the enemy and escape easily!

No way! Ariel loves looking pretty! If your ink gets on her, she’ll cry for days!

Thank you anyway, octopus team. You may go.

Do you like jelly? Do you like fish? We are jellyfish! Do you like power? Watch out—here comes the shock! Let us protect Princess Ariel!

No, no! Your power might hurt my sweet little girl!

Look at us! Brave and strong! We scare all the bad guys! We are the royal sea star army!

No, no! Ariel is very sensitive. You might scare her.

Wait! May I try? I’m brave and wise! I can protect Ariel from danger. Please let me try!

Alright… but promise me — you must protect Ariel without letting her get hurt!

Act 5

Suddenly, Ariel has an idea. “Aha! I can ask Scuttle, the smart seagull! He might know how I can meet my prince!” She finds Flounder and swims to the surface to look for Scuttle.

Not good. I want to be a human being. Can you help me?

What?! Are you kidding? Wait… I remember! There’s a sea witch named Ursula. She lives in the deep sea cave. Maybe she can help you.

No! She’s evil. She’ll take your most treasured thing. Don’t go!

I don’t care. If I can become a human, I must try. Thank you, Scuttle. Goodbye!

With determination in her heart, Ariel swims down into the dark sea tunnel.

After passing through a spooky sea tunnel, Ariel and Flounder finally arrive at Ursula’s home.

Wow, that’s great news! Thank you so much!

Don’t thank me yet. You must trade your beautiful voice for this magic. And—before sunset on the third day—you must receive a true love’s kiss from the prince. If not, your soul will be mine, and you will become sea foam forever!

Let’s go home, Ariel. This is too scary!

After the spell, Ariel and Flounder quickly swim away and rise to the surface to find the prince.

Act 6

After trading her beautiful voice to the sea witch for legs, Ariel is so happy. Now she can walk like a human! She arrives on the beach, hoping to meet Prince Eric. The prince sees her and looks at her with loving eyes.

My name is Eric. You are so beautiful. May I know which kingdom you come from?

Ariel looks deeply into Prince Eric’s eyes, but she cannot answer. The sea witch took her voice. She can only gaze at him silently.

Princess, let me show you a beautiful lake in my kingdom. I believe you will love it.

In the warm light and sweet atmosphere, the prince leans in for a kiss. Just then…

The sea witch appears and ruins the moment! The kiss fails. Flounder is hiding nearby and becomes very worried.

Oh no! Only two days left before Ariel turns back into a mermaid, and she still can’t talk! What do we do?! I must tell King Triton right away!

Act 7

King Triton has learned what happened to Princess Ariel. He is furious! He rushes to confront the evil sea witch Ursula.

Wait, evil witch! How dare you steal my precious daughter’s love? I will not forgive you!

You only know how to use dirty tricks. Now, mighty ocean, hear my command – Become a giant whirlpool and send this wicked witch to the North Pole! Freeze her forever!

Oh no! Please… have mercy! Please let me go!

Triton! You’ll regret this! Aaaaahhhh…!

Act 8

The evil sea witch Ursula has finally received her punishment. Ariel has found true love and now can live as a human. King Triton realizes that everyone has the right to follow their heart and find love. He agrees to the marriage of his daughter Ariel and Prince Eric.

Father, thank you for coming to rescue us. Your daughter has troubled you greatly. I’m sorry.

My poor child, I was wrong. Everyone has the right to follow their heart. Eric, I fully trust you will make Ariel happy!

King Triton, I will love Ariel forever, my heart is hers.

Okay! Let’s hold a grand celebration right now!
